The Beautiful Letdown

A breastfeeding blog that dabbles in tandem, extended nursing, gentle parenting and much more

6 months

January29

It’s been just over 6 months since A was born! Time goes so fast. Six months of tandem nursing. Six months of being a mom of two. Six months of night feedings. Six months of loving another little person more than I ever thought possible.

Thanks to Corin at The Human Pacifier for my very first blog award!
This Blog is Rated E for Excellent

Here’s what she had to say about my blog: “The Beautiful Letdown for the most creative, and in my opinion, well…beautiful…blog name with the best play on words.”

By accepting this Excellent Blog Award, I have to award it to 10 more people who’s blog’s I find Excellent Award worthy. I can give it to as many people as I want but please award at least 10. Thank you out there for having such great blogs and being such great friends! You deserve this! If chosen, you agree to the same information above. If chosen, also feel free to award people who have already been awarded…

Here is my top ten list of blogs that I feel deserve an Excellent Blog Award:

1. Adventures in Babywearing- Thanks for the Babywearing tips! I’m a wannabe babywearer, and reading your blog inspires me to get out my mei tai when it’s been on the shelf a little too long!

2. BreastfeedingMums Blog- Sinead was the first person to comment on my blog and encourage me to keep writing. Her blog has great breastfeeding information, and she recently started a social network for women.

3. Breastfeeding 1-2-3- I can always find some good information here. I like her breastfeeding quotes and reviews of books that I don’t always know about or have the time to find on my own.

4. The Lactivist Breastfeeding Blog- This is the first breastfeeding blog that I started to read regularly. It’s also one that I know when I have a new thread in my blog reader there will be something thought provoking and well worth reading.

5. Mama Knows Breast- This is one of my newer finds. Right now I am particularly loving her posts of “One Mom’s Story” giving different breastfeeding experiences.

6. Not a DIY Life- I found this blog during NaBloPoMo and I’m still enjoying it.

7. Nursing Your Kids- This is another blog I found during NaBloPoMo. Still enjoying this one, too!

8. On Pans and Kneadles- Since I’m always looking for new recipes, I appreciate this blog for saving me from eating spaghetti with meat sauce 10 times in one month.

9. Mama Speaks- I love this blog! It’s reviews and links to products and websites that are mom-approved. I just recently started reading this one, and I love when I go there and find a new entry.

10. A Blessed Life- This is one of my favorite blogs, but I may be a little biased since it belongs to my husband’s sister. She is a photographer and is constantly posting pictures of the cute kids she photographs and my beautiful nieces! What more could I want from a blog?

Update on my last post

January4

Well, I did the elimination diet for a few days, and I saw no results. I ate only chicken and rice. To be honest, I don’t even really like chicken all that well (unless it’s a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy’s with mayo on it), and now the thought of that chicken makes me a little queasy. Yuck.

So, fortunately, it appears that A does not have food allergies (other than the previously mentioned dairy allergy or sensitivity). This means he won’t have to spend his life analyzing every bite that enters his mouth and wondering if he is going to have reaction or if it will be okay. I won’t have to dress him in a shirt that say, “I have severe food allergies. Please ask my mommy before you give me any food” at family gatherings.

Unfortunately, we really don’t have any leads on the fussiness, restlessness, or lack of sleep. I feel like I’m walking a line. On one hand, if there’s something that is wrong and bothering him, I want to know. On the other hand, if he’s simply not a good sleeper, and he never will be, I hate to drag him from one appointment to another, from one diet to another, and from one technique to another. I guess I have to decide at what point I just need to sit back and be okay with not knowing why he doesn’t sleep and why he cries. That’s a hard thing for a mom though.
