NaBloPoMo Round 3
I definitely did better this year than I did last year in my NaBloPoMo posts. I think I stopped midway through the month last year. I didn’t do quite as well as I did in 2007. That is still the NaBloPoMo to which all others are compared at this point.
This year, I felt so busy in the month of November. I’m not sure if I was that busy or if I just felt like it. I felt like every day was a challenge to find time to blog. A friend pointed out that nearly all my posts are published at 10:30 or later! Whoops.
I have several posts in my draft folder. I also have a few that are going pretty well. Unfortunately, I’ve lacked either the words, the tone, or the time to get them to a point where they are ready to be published. Hopefully in December without the pressure to publish every day, I’ll be able to get some of those ready to publish.
How does everyone else feel about this? Do you go through the writing process with drafts, editing, and publishing? Do you set aside time every day (or on certain days) for writing?
I am not a drafter. I rarely even do outlines unless I am writing a LONG paper for school. My brain just doesn’t function in outline-mode. I have also found that drafts aren’t usually a good idea for me as I end up altering too much on the draft. I will go back through and check spelling but otherwise I have found its better to trust my “writing gut”. I don’t set aside time either. I have to be in the “mood” to write well so I just do it when that mood strikes me.
One of my goals for my new blog was to write drafts and be patient, but I’m usually so eager to publish, I don’t take the time to properly revise. Gotta work on that!
It’s been good to read your posts after a long silence. Personally I tend to just write when I have time. Sometimes I start writing something and don’t get time to finish it so I’ll save it in draft or I’ll save a draft with just a heading to remind me of an idea but mostly I don’t really use drafts. I mainly draft in my head but then don’t get time to actually sit down and w3rite so they end up going unwritten. Something I find useful is the post scheduling feature as it means that if I have a day where I write a few posts then I can space them out a bit more evenly.
I’m not really a draft writer for the blog, I just post when I can. I have a TON of posts in my head that I’d like to write. Normally they come to me as I sleep, which is a bummer because they are always deep and awesome, and of course if I get up to post them I will end up with no sleep
