Spring Reading Thing 2009
(If I can get a little help from my technology master husband over the weekend, I will replace this sentence with the Spring Reading Thing button.)
Katrina at Callipiddar days is hosting a reading challenge! Check out her page to find out how you can be a part of the challenge.
Because I love to read more than almost anything else, when I have an excuse to read more and read LOTS it gets me very excited.
The Spring Reading Thing goes from March 20 to June 20. I am already participating in the TBR Challenge, so my list for this challenge will include those books, too.
Generally, I am planning that each book will take me about 2 weeks (although it has proved to be much shorter in the past), so for this challenge, I am aiming for 2 books per month. One is from my TBR list and one is a new book.
Here is my list:
1. Born on a Blue Day by Daniel Tammet
2. Mothering Your Nursing Toddler by Norma Jean Bumgarner
3. Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards
4. Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah
5. How Weaning Happens by Diane Bengson
6. How to Talk so Kids Will Listen By Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish
This is probably pretty optimistic for me, but I’ll take any excuse to read more!
Here’s a book rec for you. It’s the story of a special young man. He is the embodiment of world peace, down to his DNA. One problem, the very genetic code that makes him powerful, also makes him both male and female — his most painful adolescent secret. He is determined to live his life as a “normal” male, but the odds are against him as he is hunted by those who want to use his body for their own deadly purposes.
I apologize if this message is unwelcomed in your blog. The phraze you wrote, “I love to read” is what made me want to share.
Your opening paragraph about getting some computer help from your husband made me laugh. I just finished getting some computer help from my hubby
Thank goodness for these techno-smart men. Your reading list looks interesting, and so do your categories over on the right. I hope you don’t mind, I’ll just poke around a bit
It’s nice to meet you.
You will LOVE Firefly Lane…I read it in one weekend…great story!
Good Luck on your reading challenge!
Missy
hi there, came here from the spring reading thing and thought i’d say hi. I see you are from North Dakota. I’m your neighbor to the north.
good luck on your book challenge. My list is pretty short at the moment but will hopefully grow as I get my hands on some more books that I haven’t read yet.
Good luck! I’ve been wanting to read Firefly Lane. I’ve heard such good things about it.
Two books/month sounds doable and reasonable. I’ve been curious about Memory Keeper’s Daughter for a while. One of these days, I’m sure I’ll get around to it…
Thanks for being part of Spring Reading Thing ’09!
Born on a Blue Day was a fantastic read. I teach 5th grade and I often have a student or two on the Asberger’s/Autism spectrum. Although each child is different, and I can’t completely figure out any student in just nine months, this book really offered some valuable insights. Enjoy it!
